# Get started with Moatlight

> Canonical page: https://moatlight.com/get-started

## Free plan

Moatlight has a free plan. It includes one website and one report every 30 days. No credit card is asked for, and there is no sales call or contact form to get access. An optional one-time [Early Access pass](https://moatlight.com/pricing) adds the Agent readiness tab, with a refund window (see the [Refund Policy](https://moatlight.com/refunds)).

## Self-serve signup

- Create an account at [/signup](https://moatlight.com/signup) with Google, or with an email and a password of at least 8 characters.
- Email sign-ups must click a verification link sent to the address before the first sign-in completes. Google sign-in needs no extra step.
- Paste your website. The first report takes about two minutes.
- Run a new report for the site every 30 days to see what moved.

## Sandbox: the sample report

The [sample report](https://moatlight.com/demo) is a finished report on made-up data for a fictional coffee roaster. It needs no login and shows every view a real report has: Overview, Business, Questions, Sources, Positioning and Actions. The numbers are samples, not measurements. Nothing you do there touches an account or runs a real analysis.

## For AI agents: API, MCP and OAuth

Moatlight has a public REST API and an MCP server. There are no API keys to request: an app signs in with OAuth 2.0 and the user approves what it may do. Public endpoints and a no-login sandbox need nothing. The free plan covers reports; the Agent readiness endpoints need the Early Access pass, which a person buys in a browser. Read the [documentation](https://moatlight.com/docs), the [OpenAPI file](https://moatlight.com/openapi.json) and [auth.md](https://moatlight.com/auth.md). Questions go to [ceo@moatlight.com](mailto:ceo@moatlight.com).

## Connect your AI agent

Add the MCP server URL to your client. There is no API key: the client opens a browser login the first time a tool needs your account. Add `?readonly=true` to the URL to list only the read tools on that connection; to stop writes, approve only the read scopes.

Claude Code. Run /mcp in Claude Code and choose moatlight to log in.

Claude Code plugin (MCP, skills and the docs server together). Installs the MCP server and the skills.

Codex. Then run codex mcp login moatlight if the client does not open the browser itself.

Cursor. Open this link in Cursor and check that the server name and URL are right before you accept it.

[Add moatlight to Cursor](cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install?name=moatlight&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL21vYXRsaWdodC5jb20vbWNwIn0%3D)

Any other client (VS Code, Windsurf, Claude Desktop). Add this to the client's MCP settings file.
